We are a purpose built Equine Veterinary facility, offering 24hr service, with four full time Veterinarians as well as two Veterinary Nurses.

Situated in the centre of Kyalami, in the middle of the most densely populated horse communities in the world, we have been successfully servicing the equine industry in the Greater Johannesburg area since 1988.

We aim to provide quality care of the highest standard to all of our patients, and guarantee professional service whilst liaising with our clients in a prompt, courteous & friendly manner.

Our Facilities

Our clinic is situated on the Cnr Main and Ash Roads, Kyalami. We have a full surgical, diagnostic and treatment facility, with 2 intensive care stables, stabling for 20 horses, a trotting track and secure, safe paddocks.

Our clinic serves as a hub from which we offer an ambulatory service and 24 hour emergency care.

Our staff include a team of four dedicated Veterinarians, two Veterinary nurses, four administrative staff members as well as four experienced hospital assistants.

We pride ourselves in taking a personal interest in our clients and their beloved companions. Our clinic is situated on a beautiful farm – like environment which makes coming to us a unique and friendly experience.

We are also fully solar operated with a generator for extra backup, which means that no matter the circumstances, we will always be able to assist our patients & perform surgery whenever it is needed.

Our Services

Northrand Animal Clinic has a full surgical suite with modern anaesthetic and advanced monitoring equipment.

We have a padded induction and recovery room for the safe handling of our equine patients before and after anaesthesia.

We have a full diagnostic suite with digital radiography, both CR and DR x-ray machines as well as ultrasound and a video endoscopy unit. We have access to scintigraphy and CT scanning. We also have a lameness locator.

Specialized Services

Ambulatory service covering the greater Johannesburg area, and the racing centre of Randjiesfontein, Turffontein and the Vaal.

Orthopedic surgery including arthroscopies.
Soft tissue surgery including geldings, crypt orchid surgery and laryngeal surgery.
Emergency surgery including colic surgery
Digital radiography 3 mobile DR (direct radiology) units and an in-house CR unit.
Video endoscopy & gastroscopy
Digital ultrasound, including tendons, pregnancy, thoracic and abdominal ultrasound.
On site laboratory and access to specialised veterinary laboratory
We offer specialised ophthalmology in conjunction with the Johannesburg Eye Hospital (a specialist ophthalmic facility)
Routine and advanced dentistry.
Podiatry - we offer a service in conjunction with various farriers for hoof-balancing.
Equine performance – the examination and treatment of race horses and sport horses with performance problems as well as lameness work ups - which includes the use of a lameness locator.
Internal medicine – the diagnosis and treatment of health problems such as infectious diseases and respiratory disease and dermatology.
Regenerative Medicine including:

IRAP (Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein)
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
Regenesis Vet Treatments

Breeding - we offer a limited service to breeders including pre-breeding examinations, ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis and A.I and the diagnosis and treatment of infertility.
